The Living Garden Experience is located in a picturesque place on the shores of the Shinhu Lake on the north side of Suzhou. This spot, on the foot of the Qizi Mountain, will house three different parks: the zoo, the botanical garden and an amusement park. All three will come together as one whole project area covering 230 hectare. The site includes mountains, wetlands and agricultural land.

The future visitors will come for the beautiful landscape, the nature and the culture. The plan is based on the site’s unique qualities and aims to not only attract visitors but also create awareness for the beauty of this area so it can be preserved in the future.

The water structure is inspired by the historic waterways in the city of Suzhou and is connected to the existing water system. The organic design of the waterways contrasts with the straight lines of the infrastructure. A main road connects the various parks with eachother. All three parks have their entrances on this road, and each area has its own character and style based on the site and the function.

The spatial layouts of the zoo and the botanical garden are based on the natural habitats of the plants and animals featured. The botanical garden is located on both sides of a hill, connected by a meandering path and used terraces along the edges. The botanical garden also has an important research and educational function.

The beautiful location and the natural atmosphere, combined with a wide variety of recreational facilities, are the foundation for a unique and attractive area for leisure and enjoyment of the nature and lively culture of Suzhou.
