Live green, live better, the theme of the Expo states, centralising respect for nature as the main premise.
A green and sustainable attitude towards food production and daily life is essential for our future. The Expo is the place where developments and innovations within the agricultural sector are showcased to inspire and to share knowledge in order to cooperate in creating a sustainable society.
For the Dutch entry we want to build several glass structures that will represent a city. A grid of pathways will ensure that the whole parcel is accessible for the visitors and that all the elements can be checked out. It will be like roaming around a city.
This “city” will function as the framework for demonstrating multiple techniques and innovations. Green rooftops, green walls and innovative solutions for water issues in the city; products and techniques making the city to be greener and more sustainable are gathered here.
Air pollution, water pollution and water shortage are environmental issues Beijing is coping with. Moreover, the city of Beijing launched a programme aiming to make the city more colourful by integrating a good selection of plants. For example, the city wants to integrate a more colourful assortment in the streets. Evergreen trees, shrubs with unique autumn shades and flowering trees and plants are essential for these aims. Green city techniques, innovations and a wide assortment of diversified plantation from the Netherlands will serve as an inspiration for Beijing city and the billions of visitors of the Expo.
