The Wusong River flows between the University of Science and Technology park and the nanometer research center located east of downtown Suzhou. The proposed parks, stretching 1 km along each side of the river, will create one coherent spatial concept for the riverfront. The tissue-like structure of the paths, squares and green spaces form the basis of the park, with a sunken boulevard along the northern bank of the river. The tree structure consists of a gradient of dense evergreen trees in the north to a more open structure in the south. The central point of the design is the bridge connecting the north and south banks of the river, ending in plaza spaces with their own identities. The southern plaza features a water sculpture which is part of the art route in the southern park. The northern plaza is integrated into the multi-functional sports path which runs the length of the northern park.
