Huzhou is a fast-growing city, located 200 km from Shanghai. The city hopes to market itself with the addition of a new icon: the Four Seasons Tulip Park. “A flower park for all seasons, a palette of living color”, where bulbs will bloom all year beginning in early spring with the tulips.
Flowers are the highlight of the park. They connect and enhance the various existing landscape characters in new and beautiful theme gardens. A clever combination of flower bulbs, annuals and perennials will provide color, diversity and beauty all year long. The design includes 800 million flower bulbs, including 80 different species and 800 different varieties.
The Four Seasons Tulip Park is situated in a beautiful area nestled between the forested hills and the ecological wetland area near the south bank of Tai Lake. The park will add to the natural and cultural history of the region as well as the reacreational and tourist potential of the lake and the urban area of Huzhou.
The natural characteristics of the park include three craters left after years of mining by the local cement industry, a hill and a bamboo forest. There are also a number of cultural landscape elements such as a tea plantation, a mulberry tree nursery and small-scale terraced farm fields built into the side of the hill. This rich assortment of areas creates the basis for the various gardens within the park, each accentuating the existing character of their location. The existing road which cuts through the middle of the park will be tunneled so that the landscape can flow freely as one. The combination of these landscape elements with an extraordinary sea of flowers will provide a unique park experience for everyone.
