The Expo Park is the core of Shanghai Exposition area, it stays as a permanent green public space of Shanghai. We applied the ‘Regression Design and Green Technology ‘ as concept and came up with the idea of “the shoal and the fan”. We created the park in the shape of a washed-up plain, the landforms of Shanghai, and embellish the landscape with larger scales of arbors, bushes and lawn. To increase the leisure space for visitors, we eliminated the smaller arbor. The expo green space, main city green space and riverside green layout as bones of a Chinese fan. Summer winds coming through the arbors and improves the micro-climate. To recreate the local landscape culture, we selected oriental fir, the only breed exclusively property protected plant in Shanghai. We found a new solution for creating a viewing point through the main city, a different way for landscape planning. Upon the landscape space research, we found a standing point for the design and create a new way for the space of the exposition area and the main city.
