The first phase of the Manrong Blue Sea project was a concept study for the masterplan of the Manrong Changbai district where green plays an integral role in the layout and infrastructure of the entire district. “Blue Sea” is the combination of “mind” and “dreams” and can be seen as the continuous motion of waves on the sea. It represents the role of economy in creativity and the role of creativity in economy.

This combination of knowledge and innovation with culture and economy sets the tone for the businesses and residents who will establish here. These characteristics have been translated into the concept design for the central park with its flowing lake, park spaces, boulevard and adjacent urban development.

The boulevard begins in the heart of the outdoor museum gardens and slices through the urban core of Manrong and introduces a water element which opens up into the large lake. Along the lake the park becomes open and the boulevard takes on a more park-like character full of flowers and cherry trees . It eventually ends as a pier over the Hun River, sheltered by wetland islands. The landmark is an important orientation point for the neighbourhood and can be seen from the surrounding buildings and roads.
